It is generally thought that neuroimaging studies, such as CTscan and MRI, are not able to detect any structural abnormalities in the brain after mild traumatic brain injury (concussion). Concussion is believed to cause a functional disturbance (vs. structural) affecting the normal physiology of the brain. However, new research findings may be challenging this notion.
